Enrichment programs

Our enrichment programs offer the individuals within our community a variety of opportunities for personal growth, open-up a wider range of career options and foster a greater sense of communal bonding — from story telling and bouldering to cricket coaching, painting and drawing for children. Through these programs we provide them a chance to explore their interests and improve their skills in a way which is not otherwise accessible to them.

Cricket:

Collaboration: CSE – Padukone Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence

By connecting with sports centers that have “amazing” facilities, we are creating more high level opportunities for kids to explore their interest in cricket.

The collaboration between The Anugraha Project and CSE – Padukone Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence – is an exciting development for young sports enthusiasts. Through collaborating with this elite sports institution, this partnership is opening doors for young people from economically disadvantaged regions to pursue their passion for cricket at an advanced level.

With this collaboration, the trust is bringing the expertise of CSE to its programs, providing young cricketers with access to high-level coaching and training. This can be a game-changer for children who are serious about pursuing a career in cricket. By working together, they are creating a holistic environment that fosters the growth and development of young athletes.

The boys have been performing well, some of them reaching the finals of tournaments that are held periodically. A few have improved their game significantly to earn awards such as ‘Man of the Match’ and ‘Game Changer’! We remain dedicated to fostering and refining their skills, ensuring ongoing support for their development. Recognizing and celebrating the success of the boys who reach the finals in the tournaments is crucial. Acknowledging their achievements is a positive reinforcement that boosts their morale and motivation.

Tailoring:

Collaboration: BBMP

We are looking to partner with BBMP (Bangalore Corporation) to provide skill-oriented training to women in the field of tailoring. Currently, a majority of these women are employed as aides in nearby households or restaurants, dedicating 10 hours of work per day for an income of around Rs. 600/- per day (equivalent to $7 per day). These specialized training programs, spanning about 2-3 months, ensures that upon completion, these women will have access to improved job prospects, higher income levels, and an elevated quality of life. The most important part of this endeavor is to connect these women with textile companies to ensure that they get enough work, post training.

Creative pursuits

We’ve successfully involved children of various age groups in enjoyable and imaginative activities. One of our early initiatives was Aditi Art Club’s half-day session with 16 children, where the students guided the children on color mixing techniques and helping them create beautiful paintings on canvass. We aspire to maintain the continuity of this engaging activity, intending to establish it as a recurring event.

Engaging Tales:

Weekend Storytelling with Manya:

Children at the Aarunya Foundation are engaged in phonetic learning. Manya (Founder – The Anugraha Foundation) spent an hour every weekend reading with the children, integrating their phonetic knowledge into storytelling sessions. Through role-play, children embody characters like dogs, adding interactivity to the stories. This approach not only enhances reading skills but also fosters creativity and accelerates the learning process, as evidenced by the children’s eager anticipation for Manya’s reading hour.

Empowering Minds:

Kartik Krishnan’s Chess Initiative:

Volunteer Kartik Krishnan taught chess to children from our community every weekend, this year. The sessions covered chess fundamentals and advanced to strategies and tactics. The initiative aims to improve children’s chess skills and foster appreciation for strategic thinking.

Exploring Artistic Expression:

A Journey with Rithish Gopinath, Founder, The Spero Collective

The Spero Collective is where fashion intertwines with art, education, and social change. As pioneers in luxury fashion with a social conscience, they empower underserved communities by showcasing their talent through their fashion label. With every purchase, you contribute to sustainable support and investment in education and empowerment initiatives. Earlier this year, middle school children had an extraordinary opportunity to engage in an hour-long session with Rithish, furthering our commitment to fostering creativity and empowerment. Join us on our journey to redefine fashion and create lasting social impact.

Traveling to outer space

Thanks to student volunteers, ten middle school children from the community had an opportunity to be part of an awe-inspiring show on space at the Jawaharlal Nehru Planatarium to mark the ‘International Day for Human Space Flight’ on 12th April, in honor of the historic journey of Yuri Gagarin, the first human in space. It was a wonderful opportunity for our children to delve into the wonders of the cosmos.

This wonderful opportunity and exposure to these children could ignite their curiosity and passion for science.

We hope to continue to kindle these curious minds with greater exposure to similar activities.
